This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly improving special school, which joined the Unity Schools Partnership multi academy trust in June 2019.

At this exciting time for the school, we are looking for an inspirational Class Teacher with a passion for SEN and a creative, innovative approach to delivering the curriculum, to join us and make an impact on the learning of our students. We are looking for candidates with the motivation and determination to ensure that students make progress and also to improve and boost their experience.

The Bridge Special School is a popular school educating children and young people between the ages of 3 – 16 who have a wide range of communication, physical, and profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many of the pupils are on the Autistic Spectrum. The school serves a catchment area that covers Ipswich and surrounding areas of Suffolk. The whole school is based on one campus, with the primary building constructed and opened in 2015 and the construction of a new, purpose-built secondary unit planned for this year.

The school is part of a collaborative, forward thinking Academy Trust of 23 schools. Unity Schools Partnership will be creating a network of special schools working together as we have recently been approved to open new special schools in Ipswich and Romford, as well as already having a special school in Haverhill.

You will be supported in your role by experienced special education leaders who will be available to offer advice and guidance as the school moves forward under their leadership. Training opportunities are significant due to the presence of a teaching school (Suffolk Borders Teaching Alliance) at the heart of the trust which is driving outstanding opportunities for professional development, research, teacher training and collaboration between schools and across phases.

For more information, to arrange a visit or an informal discussion about the role please contact Tina Sharman, Deputy Headteacher by email tina.sharman@thebridgeschool.org.uk or phone 01473 556200.

Hexham Priory School uses Supply Teachers and would expect any supply teachers that we use to be on the Northumberland County Council supply teaching data base. To find out more details about joining the Teaching Supply scheme, please ring Northumberland County Council on 0845 600 6400.

We like to invite possible supply Teachers into school on a voluntary basis to spend some time with our pupils before they cover a staff member. We have found that this benefits both the pupils and the supply teacher, especially if they have little special needs teaching experience.

We are always looking to increase our bank of supply Teaching Assistants who are available to work in school. Work may be on an ad hoc basis to cover for absent staff or regular work to cover in a class when a child from our school attends a teaching session in their local mainstream school supported by their own Teaching Assistant.

We would be interested in hearing from anyone that has a Child Care qualification equivalent to NVQ Level Two or higher, with good levels of literacy and numeracy. Experience will also be taken into account. Application forms along with the Health Declaration forms can be downloaded below and should be returned to school via email. All Supply Teaching Assistants must have a current enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)clearance, which can be facilitated by school. We would recommend joining the DBS update service.
